The Blogger’s MardiGras
blog carnival, creative writing, language, not writing, publishing, shiny, writing - - Posted on November, 8 at 10:02 am
Welcome to the November 5, 2007 edition of bloggers mardi gras. I’ve spent the last several months settling into University – I’m really enjoying my Creative Writing Ba(hons) and I’m delighted with the work I’m doing at the University of Gloucestershire.
I also launched DigitalisObscura this month, along with another site, called PublishHacks – so if you’ve got any comments on both, or the carnival, then please let me know.
We’ve got a fairly mixed bag this month – with the breadth and depth that you’d expect to see from Bloggers the world over. I’d like to take this opportunity to place a warning on the contents of some of these submissions – strong language and disturbing ideas, but nevertheless, worth a read if you’re interested in the writings of others.
Our next carnival will be in a month, so get your submissions in!

I was pleasantly surprised by the groundswell of support I got from the blogosphere, even from people who use their real names. The response was so overwhelming that Facebook reversed its decision within hours and restored my account. Unwittingly, I seem to have tapped into feelings that have been bubbling under the surface for a long time. For too long Pseudonym-Americans like myself, and all the pseudonymous people of the world, have lived in the shadows. For too long we have been relegated to the back of the serial bus. Well, those days are over. I am somebody, just not exactly who I say I am, and I say it loud: I’m a Pseudonym-American and I’m proud.”
