While I don’t ‘do’ resolutions….

I don’t tend to do resolutions because I don’t like how they make me feel. Most people say they feel empowered by them, but I really feel like a bigger failure just making them. I don’t feel that feeling a failure is conducive to getting things done, so I don’t make them.

Instead, as I explained on Mama Needs a Book Contract, I make headliner goals - they aren’t - quite - resolutions, and are, instead markers that I place in my diary, and break them down into more managable and attainable mini goals. My ‘headliners’ though are special. Not only are they goals, but they are part fantasy too. They are the things that I can get to, ONLY if I set my mind to it.

Last year was my ‘Kai takes a break’ year - which was difficult. I don’t stop for anything, not even sickness - I’d started the year with a new job, which became a new partnership, which became a nightmare, which then fell back to give me time to go back to University, so that plan went well (not ;))

This year, I’ve got two ‘headline goals’.
Kai lands contract with (insert big Agency here) and starts her publishing company, Schrodinger’s library
AND
Kai achieves amazing grades in her coursework.
