You take this carreer one day at a time…

Three days ago, I got the biggest rejection of my year - I’d applied to work with an amazing company, and been told that, on paper, I was good enough. I was praying for the ‘face to face’ interview - and at the same time, I guess, praying that I didn’t need to go cause i was terrified too, and I got an email saying ‘we can’t hire you - or anyone else’.
I was devastated - and have been considering taking a sabattical for a couple of months. I don’t give in easily, but when you’re getting within tasting distance of a job of your dreams and then discovering that there’s six foot plate glass between you and it - and more to the point - said glass is bullet-proof, its more than a little hard to take.
And then, this morning, I got a lovely email from someome that I run a server for, saying, effective immediately, I could start selling space on the server - which meant, in practical terms, I’ve got over $200 in savings made, because we all fit on that server, easily, AND best of all, I had just enough saved up to be able to use that $200 to pay for ISBNS. So I’ve gone from having absolutely no hope of doing anything, and am now looking at having lots of fun with buying and producing ISBN based books.
WOOOHOOO!

Hey Kiai!
I know it sounds like something you really wanted, but I would not take it too hard since they said they couldn’t hire anyone right now, so that sounds more to me like its their own business set up more than anything..I know when I was in publishing, if my boss turned down an author he really like it was usually because we were over comitted book publishingwise, but he also hung on to manuscripts he liked and got back to the authors, hoping they hadn’t found anyone else. He couldn’t say to authors gee this business is my bosses “hobby” and if he agrees to publish too many books well then the authors we pee on people discover will just have to wait a bit—-Doesn’t at all sound like it was you more them. things have a way of turning out for the best-you may get something down the road that will make you glad this fell thru or they may be back in contact with you soon? you never know..
